I had heard good things about this cart before trying it out myself, and I can now definitely say that everything good you have heard about it is well-deserved. The service can be a little bit slow, but it is well worth the wait - the food is absolutely fantastic and full of flavor, and the portion sizes are good. Just writing this review is making me crave more of their jerk chicken and candied yams... -Lab Rat

FYI: I went to culinary school, so my criticism is legit. This place is DELICIOUS! I am a huge fan of carribean food, since living in south florida for years. I got their jerk chicken with collard greens and steamed cabbage as my sides. Dare I say that the jerk chicken...BURNED...MY...FACE...OFF! (And in such a good way!) It was incredibly tasty, but even more challenging and fun, on top of that. The chicken I got was a little fatty and a little dry. But it was later in the day, so the dryness makes sense. And I\'ll never complain about fattiness because \"fat is flavor\". The sides were delicious. I ate everything and was absolutely stuffed. My meal was $8, I think, which is a little expensive for a food truck. But the quality, size and deliciousness more than make up for it. Other than a high sodium content, the meal was pretty healthy. Now that it\'s getting colder, I\'ll be getting a lot more face-melting meals here. And if you haven\'t experienced a lot of carribean cuisine, this is a great place to go to try something new. HIGHLY recommend! -Ben Franklin

Lost track of them when they relocated from 30th and Market and thought I\'d never see them again. Turns out they\'ve been up on Spruce the whole time. My dad turned me onto them, and he\'s no longer with us, but I always remember the places and things he taught me about.\n\nAnd this is one of them. Speed is slow, but what with long lines and the MASSIVE amount of food they put on your platter (generous is an understatement), it\'s worth the wait. You can\'t go wrong with whatever you purchase, but my personal favorite is jerk chicken with rice and beans. Mix that jerk sauce in with the rice and it\'s simply amazing. I\'ve been known to make both of my sides rice and beans just for that purpose.\n\nThey couple running the place have always been pretty sociable to me and mine, so I\'m a bit surprised to find them rating so low on friendliness for some. A Gigi\'s and Big R platter can last you a day, and satisfy you for far longer. -Ben Franklin

I\'ve only eaten at the Gigi\'s on 30th and Market street outside the train station.\n\nJerk Chicken is the best I\'ve ever tasted. Nice and spicy and not real sweet like some places.\n\nI always get the potato salad and collard greens as my 2 sides and both may be the best I\'ve tasted. -Chris Knight

We got food to go at this truck while at the 2nd St Festival, It was late & they were very helpful helping me order & giving samplers :) Everything was perfect, not a bite wasted. Best greens I\'ve had in a long time, simply prep[ared. Excellent yams as well as the delicious jerk chicken, fish and fried chicken wings. Thank you! -Linda
A disappointing outing Wed, 13 Jul 2011

A thoroughly miserable experience. After ordering I waited 35 mins for my order to be processed, and given that they did not write down orders, regularly watched people receive food who ordered substantially after I did. The food itself (curry chicken platter) was swimming in oil but well cooked, served with mac\'n\'cheese which was very bland. The highlight was the rice which was tasty, albeit fluorescing from the \'curry\' oil. There was certainly plenty of food and I did not find the price as disconcerting as some. All told, not what I would have expected from the Vendy Cup winners. -Brit Abroad
NOT worth the wait Wed, 13 Jul 2011

This food truck is, by far, the worst I have encountered in Philly. I waited 45 minutes to get my food while more pushy customers cut in line and received their orders before I got mine. If you are going to actually order food, you must be aggressive, otherwise you will never eat. I was hoping the food would be great after waiting so long, but the chicken was extremely oily and the mac and cheese is not as good as Wawa (and their\'s isn\'t great). I also have to say that I can\'t believe this truck won the Philly Vendy award. There are a lot better food trucks in the area than this one. -Ben Franklin

The fried fish was way too fishy--disappointing. The candied yams were cloyingly sweet. The green beans were salty enough to make your taste buds shrivel.
However, the jerk chicken is delicious. Very succulent meat and tasty spices--I will ask for hot sauce though, next time. The potato salad is nice and cool. The collard greens were also very good.
The small was $7 which might seem steep but there's so much food that I can eat it for 2 meals. -Southern

In my opinion, the food is great. I usually frequent their place on 60th & Haverford but i've been to the truck a few times. you have to wait a little while but it's worth it. Side's are great. recommend hot sauce on....almost anything. -Anonymous

The line was pretty long and they take a bit of time to get your order ready, but their platters come with a ton of food. The yams and macaroni and cheese are excellent but prices are a bit high. Then again, considering the amount of food you are getting, it's definitely worth it. -Abhi

Good jerk chicken, candied yams were excellent. The food takes a while to come out and even if you were to order from a phone the people who work their have unintelligible accents. -Ben Franklin
