Tacos Don Memo
Tacos Don Memo features some of the best mexican food you can find on campus in a small truck between KoJa and 7-11 on 38th Street. Be ready to pay a lot for the food because the prices are nearly double that of other mexican trucks on campus. This is somewhat justified by the freshness of the produce and the amount of sauce they include on a burrito. Beware: only ask for your food to be hot if you have a high spice tolerance or a sugary beverage nearby. -AG

Burritos are very good and you get a dollar off for ordering veggie ($5 burrito rather than $6). It's a bit out of the way, but generally worth it. Also, visit their restaurant at 69th Street. -AG

There's not much else I can say that hasn't already been said. Spicy, pricey burritos that come with a long wait but a fantastic flavor. The only thing to add is that they seriously have the best horchata in the city. Be sure to try it. -Neuronix

I absolutely ADORE Tacos Don Memo. I'm at this food truck at least twice a week for two spicy veggie tacos with sour cream. However, they are exceedingly slow. I ordered over the phone the other day to avoid being late for class, and asked for my two tacos to be ready by 12:45. I arrive at 12:45, they say it's coming up, and I STILL had to wait literally fifteen minutes to get my food. I may as well have just gone in person to order. Calling did no good at all (and they forgot my sour cream this time, even though I ordered it...). Anyhoo, their food is EXCELLENT, but be prepared to wait wait wait. -LT

Viva El Memo! Much tastier fare than you'll find at any other truck. Others are faster? Who cares? No one comes close to this taste! Go to McDonald's instead if you want fast, shitty food. Come here if you want delicious, delicious art. -PhillyFoodie

Maybe the best authentic Mexican food in Philadelphia. I dare you to find a better taco anywhere in the city! The lines and waiting time are long for a reason--the end product is superb. Amazing food that is well worth waiting for. -Ben Franklin

Best burrito everrrrr. After reading this page, I decided to order ahead so it was ready for me when I got there. But the line wasn't long at all anyway. It's right by my work so it's pretty convenient and although the dudes aren't the friendliest, I'm not really looking for conversation with my burrito-makers. -Awesomeface

So far in my search for the best burrito in Philly, two places stand out: Jose's on 469 N. 10th st and Taco's Don Memo. Fresh ingredients, rice and beans done right. Excellent toppings and grilled tortilla. It's amazing to me how many other places get it so wrong. Memo does it right. Just be willing to wait for it. -yacub

Two words: veggie. tacos. I go to Tacos Don Memo at least twice a week just to get two vegetarian tacos. Their tortillas are SO DELICIOUS, all of their ingredients are super fresh, and the guys that work there are always sweet. Couldn't ask for more. -Ben Franklin

Disappointing Fri, 16 Jan 2009

Having read reviews and heard talk about this cart, I was very enthusiastic to try it. Unfortunately the chicken burrito I ordered did not live up to expectations. The meat, while flavorful, was not the best quality. It was all dark meat and I had several unpleasant and chewy bites. The tomatoes were thick slices rather than diced cubes. This lead to sections of the burrito being watery and bitter. The guacamole, a featured aspect of this cart, was buried beneath the other flavors and was not readily distinguishable.
On the plus side, the rice, beans and portion size were noticably superior to other carts in the area.
Unfortunately at a price of $6 and with very slow service, 20 minutes when I was the only one in line, I can not recommend this cart. -Joe College

Amazing - called in my order 45 minutes early, showed up an hour later, and they didn't have it ready. Staff was super friendly and apologetic. The wait time is huge, but really, this is a testament to their end product, and of course a testament to laws of supply and demand. People wait because its worth it...so bring an ipod, a book, a friend, whatever, and enjoy the time outside. You'll certainly enjoy the food. -Trophy Cliff

I really like the pastor tacos, so if you eat pork, try them.

As a California transplant, I have to say that this is probably the best Mexican food I've found on this coast. Only get the Torta if you are ready for a great food experience and the largest food coma you've ever had. -Aaron

FYI, apparently the Don Memo restaurant is at 57 Garrett Rd in Upper Darby (block from 69th Street terminal)... if the food is half as good as from the cart on campus, it's totally worth the trip!! -RB

You'll have to wait, but boy is it worth it! Marinated meat, fresh vegetables, and an amazing hot sauce that's made daily. Why get guacamole from other burrito joints when you can go to Tacos Don Memo and they will cut open a fresh avocado and put it on your burrito (for no extra charge, mind you). The burritos are huge and will put a smile on your face. If you think you know burritos, you don't know anything until you try this place. -Fen Branklin
